Popovic: Political split between Serbs and Albanians is still present (Radio Gracanica, RTS)
Mayor of Gracanica Srdjan Popovic last night said in the Radio Television Serbia (RTS) Show ''Upitnik'' that the political split between the Serbs and Albanians is still present.
"I can say that the political division of Serbs and Albanians is still present. Pristina is still politically far from us. There is communication, but everything depends on the part of the region. In the central part of Kosovo, the situation is better. The Serbs are going to Pristina, they speak their own language more freely but the situations did not reach such an extent that we can say that it is good. From the local perspective, the biggest problems are unemployment, property sales and security," said Popovic.
Referring to the previous period, Popovic emphasized that in the previous parliamentary convening, when he was a member of the same, 200 of the laws passed by the Kosovo Assembly, the Serb community has insisted on only three that were important for the Serb community in Kosovo.
"I would associate this with an honesty in communications with Pristina, because we insisted on only three laws: the Law on Strategic Investments, the Law on Trepca and the Property Law, and they did not find understanding for it, because if they were talking about a common future, then we expected to allow us to make some amendments to mechanisms to protect our survival in Kosovo."
Speaking about security, Popovic stressed that security structures are not working properly.
"We can daily see and hear about robberies in Osojane, Klina, and the police cannot find any perpetrators, and all this sends a bad signal to our returnees, a bad signal to the international community, and we can insist and rely on the international community to help our people," said Popovic.
When asked by the RTS journalist where is the address when there are problems, Popovic said that the address is Pristina and Belgrade, reports Radio Gracanica.
