“Appeal for defence of Kosovo and Metohija” presented in Smederevo (Danas)
“Appeal for defence of Kosovo and Metohija” was drafted by Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Political Council, however, it soon became a document beyond that of a political party, Danas daily reported.
First signatories of the Appeal included 14 academics, 12 Serbian Orthodox Church Bishops, more than a hundred universities’ professors as well as more than 22.000 citizens, representatives of DSS informed citizens in Smederevo city, where the gathering took place outside, as the city authorities did not permit use of a hall for the gathering, Danas daily further said.
DSS Leader, Milos Jovanovic said that “if Kosovo is surrendered, betrayed, if this act of a high-treason is committed, then things would not stop there,” and “if our southern province is handed over without resistance, they would take the rest of the country under much favourable conditions.”
“We would tour entire Serbia presenting our Appeal for defence of Kosovo and Metohija. Smederevo is the first city in Serbia where we could not get even a hall to talk about Kosovo and Metohija. They even did not want to take our money (for the purpose of booking), (…),” Professor Milos Kovic said while presenting the Appeal.
Speakers underlined inaccessibility of the Serbian media when it comes to the Appeal, criticizing in the particular Serbian Public Broadcaster (RTS), and mentioned Danas as one of the very few, maybe the only daily publishing information about this and other DSS activities.
