Vucic: Whatever Kosovo government is for Scott and USA, for us it is “so-called” (Politika, Tanjug)
“Whatever Kosovo and its government are for the USA and Ambassador Scott, for us it is so-called government and the so-called state,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said, reacting to the statement of the USA Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott, who stated earlier in Belgrade that Kosovo is a sovereign state.
“Why then they negotiate with Serbia at all, and seek from Serbia to offer a shelter to the so-called sovereign states in the UN?” Vucic added.
Referring to Ambassador Scott, Vucic also said that “it would be nice if he has shown more respect for the host country,” and that representative of the Serbian Government who attended the event where Scott made that Kosovo remark, should have reacted.
Vucic also argued it is not up to diplomats to correct journalists, but to respond to their questions.
“Unfortunately, I was not present,” Vucic noted, and reminded it is not a new stance of the American administration when it comes to Kosovo. However, since this is a major power, Serbia must talk with it.
“It is their right, but also the style to speak that way and advocate for their interests, and it is up to us to defend Serbian interests,” Vucic underlined.
