“Moscow with attention follows development of situation in Kosmet” (Tanjug, B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed to the Russian Ambassador Alexander Chepurin grave concern over announcements on forming the so-called Kosovo army, Tanjug news agency reports.

The statement issued by Vucic’s cabinet further noted such announcements are contradictory to the UN SC Resolution 1244, the only legal framework that is in line with the international law and reached agreements.

President Vucic urged Ambassador Chepurin to warn leadership of friendly Russia and the Russian President Vladimir Putin it seems that someone is pushing Serbia and the region in conflict intentionally.

“Serbia is not causing instability, but permanent provocations can bring us into a situation in which we would have no other choice but to defend Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. Serbia must not allow expulsion of its own people,” President Vucic said.

Ambassador Chepurin said Kosovo and Metohija is longstanding issue and reasonable solution, beneficial to all should be looked for.

He emphasized that official Moscow with attention follows the development of the situation, recalling the reactions of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two officials also noted preparations for the forthcoming visit of the Russian President to Serbia are ongoing well.
