Kosovo prosecutor confirms photographs of Oliver Ivanovic are authentic (TV N1, KoSSev)
The photographs of Oliver Ivanovic’s body on the pavement outside his party offices are authentic and were taken minutes after the assassination, Kosovo Special Prosecutor Sul Hoxha told N1 on Tuesday.
Initial reports after the January 2018 assassination said that the security cameras on the building, where Ivanovic’s party office was located, were not operating at the time but Hoxha said that the images were taken from video recorded a minute or two later.
The pictures appeared were published by Belgrade press recently and the prosecutor said he had no idea who leaked them to the media.
“We had the photographs earlier, they were taken after the murder. The cameras in his office were not working but they started working after the murder,” Hoxha told N1 by telephone from Pristina, adding that they resumed recording a minute or two later.
He said his office has cooperation with the authorities in Belgrade which includes the questions of Oliver Ivanovic’s widow Milena Popovic. “The late Oliver’s wife made some statements, but not to us and she didn’t say anything concrete which could help the case,” Hoxha said, confirming that he requested an interview with her.
Oliver Ivanovic’s nephew Aleksandar told TV N1 that the images are clearly from the camera that the late Ivanovic installed. “What I want to know is where the newspapers got the image, who else has the video footage and whether there is anything else on it,” he said.
He voiced doubts about the claims that the security cameras were turned off and recalled that there were hundreds of security cameras in that part of Mitrovica North.
“My impression is that this is about politics, about transferring responsibility between Belgrade and Pristina with the professionals not being allowed to conduct their investigation and tell us, the family and the public who it is who can decide that enough is enough and a man should be killed,” Ivanovic’s nephew said.
