Milivojevic: It is by no coincidence that they call for abolishment of Resolution 1244 (Tanjug, B92)
Diplomat Zoran Milivojevic commenting on letters/congratulations that the USA President Donald Trump has sent to Belgrade and Pristina, said it points out there is no solution to the Kosovo issue without Serbia, Tanjug news agency reported. He also added, support of Washington to Kosovo independence is indisputable.
However, according to Milivojevic, the letter Trump sent to Pristina indirectly brings into questions sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo. He noted the essence of US stance elaborated in these letters is that now Serbia’s opinion is also respected, and there is no solution to the Kosovo issue without Serbia.
Milivojevic went on saying that American stance is confirmed by NATO announcement following the ministerial meeting, in which NATO clearly refers to UN SC Resolution 1244 in relation to the KFOR mandate in Kosovo.
“Kosovo and Metohija is within UN mandate and the international law as well as UN SC Resolution 1244 are valid there. That is why, it is by no coincidence that Pristina calls for abolishment of this Resolution, since it is impossible to determine international status of Kosovo outside of the Resolution and Security Council. And that is why the panic in Pristina is fully understandable to me,” Milivojevic told TV Pink.
Commenting on a panel at Munich Security Conference, in which both Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci took place, Milivojevic said that Pristina is undermining the dialogue, while Serbia is the one trying to preserve peace and stability.
“The Munich Conference is dedicated to peace and security, while President Vucic clearly demonstrated that Serbia is the one preserving peace and stability by its acts and explained to what extent Serbia is refraining to undertake decisions that could bring into question peace and stability,” Milivojevic noted.
