Spanish FM: Spain does not recognize Kosovo, supports compromise solution (BETA, B92)

Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister Josep Borrell during the visit to Belgrade said his country is against the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo, but it supports a compromise solution, BETA news agency reported.

He spoke in Belgrade with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. President Vucic thanked Spain for its principled stance on Kosovo and an active support in the protection of Serbia’s state and national interests.

According to the press release, sent by Vucic’s cabinet, he told the Spanish Foreign Minister Borrell that Serbia is acting responsibly, because it has fulfilled all its obligations deriving from the Brussels agreement and at the same time did not introduce reciprocal measures on the tariffs Pristina imposed on the goods from central Serbia.

He also commented on Pristina’s dialogue platform which indicated that Pristina is against the dialogue, adding Serbia remains committed to the peace and stability. He also asked FM Borrell to pass on the invitation to King Felipe VI of Spain to visit Serbia.
