Covic: Some evil is being prepared for Serbs in Kosovo (Telegraf, Tanjug, B92)

Former head of the Coordination Centre for Kosovo and Metohija Nebojsa Covic, believes that "some evil is in store" for Serbs in northern Kosovo. In his view, Pristina authorities, with the support of their foreign mentors, are planning to "round off their sovereignty in the whole territory of Kosovo and Metohija." In an opinion piece published by Srpski Telegraf, which Tanjug is quoting, Covic recalls that this is the year of two anniversary - the 70th anniversary of NATO and the 20th anniversary of the bombing of Serbia (Yugoslavia, SRJ). That is why, he adds, "great pressure was exerted, above all on Belgrade to accept an agreement on normalization of relations, which, as foreign powers had envisaged, had to result in a mutual recognition (of Belgrade and Pristina)." "This would have whitewashed the crime the United States, Great Britain and NATO committed by bombing SRJ and put forever aside the numerous civilian and military victims of this bombing, and the enormous material damage," Covic wrote. Among other things, he recalls KFOR's announcement about the legitimacy of the activities of Albanian forces in Kosovo, including in northern municipalities with majority Serb population. He believes that because of this, Serbia's top institutions should urgently send a protest note to the NATO Secretary General and to the governments of the Alliance's member states. "This step should be taken as soon as possible for the following reasons: Pristina is preparing a big celebration of the '20th anniversary of liberation'; it has formed a special working group dealing with this, coming to them are 'the queen mothers' of the Kosovo project - Madeleine Albright and Hillary Clinton, the Blair family will also probably be there," says the former deputy prime minister in the Serbian government. Covic warns that Pristina authorities will need some resounding move that carries weight - which, given the coordinated efforts of the UK and Germany to present northern municipalities as criminal environments, and recent statements by KFOR chiefs, is likely the completion of Pristina's "sovereignty" across the entire territory of Kosovo and Metohija. He adds that well-intentioned associates of US President Donald Trump have been warned about such a step, and that this should be taken seriously, recalling that Russia, China, and Trump himself have been mentioned as NATO's main enemies in informal conversations during a recent NATO Council meeting.
