Foreign Affairs Minister to represent Serbia at UN Security Council session (Beta, N1)

Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic will represent Serbia at the UN Security Council session on Monday, when the report of the General Secretary on the work of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) from January 16 to May 15 will be discussed, the Ministry said on Sunday.

Dacic will point out the need for the continuous examination of the issue of Kosovo by the UN Security Council, as well as the need for UNMIK to stay engaged in “the consistent implementation of the set goals to the same degree and with an unchanged mandate, especially having in mind the increasing tensions and the unstable security situation in Kosovo.”

The recent operation of Kosovo’s special police in northern Kosovo and the arrests and attacks on staff of the UN Mission will be on the agenda, Dacic’s office said.

It also added that the Foreign Minister will speak about the “series of Pristina’s provocative activities, which, apart from not respecting what was agreed in the Brussels dialogue, also gravely breach the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.”
