Agreement with Frontex good, Serbian refugee commissioner said (TV N1)

Serbia’n Refugee Commissioner Vladimir Cucic welcomed today the Serbia-European Union agreement on the Frontex border service as well-thought out, TV N1 reported.

“Frontex has been present here for 2-3 years. This was a well-thought out step by the Internal Affairs Ministry, knowing our place on the (migrant) route. Serbia loses nothing with it,” he told the Serbian state TV.

Serbia initials agreement on Frontex with EU (Tanjug, B92)

EU Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos and Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic have initialed the agreement on Frontex.

This agreement refers to the activities carried out by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) in Serbia.

Avramopulos said that this would enable Frontex to, in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Interior, conduct border checks of migrants, thereby increasing the security of EU's external borders.

Serbian MIA denies that Frontex arrives at the border, Han is not aware (N1)

The head of the MIA's Department for International Cooperation Zoran Lazarov denied media reports that Serbia and the EU signed an agreement on the deployment of members of the European Border Guard and Coast Guard (Frontex) on the borders of Serbia. European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn is not aware also about the alleged spread of Frontex to the borders of the Western Balkans, reports reginal broadcaster N1.
