The Chairman of the National Council of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Jakup Krasniqi, has responded to Hashim Thaci’s interview, in which he said he would be the next Prime Minister of Kosovo. Krasniqi, through a telephone conversation with Zeri, said that Thaci does not have necessary numbers to form a government, and that no one wants to govern with him.
The heads of the opposition coalition, Isa Mustafa from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Ramush Haradinaj from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and Fatmir Limaj from the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), have held their regular meeting. After the meeting, Isa Mustafa rejected the possibility of new early elections, adding that the opposition coalition is respecting the laws and constitution. He said he is also having meetings with Vetevendosje.
The Head of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Fatmir Limaj, who is already part of the agreement with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) to create the government, said that this arrangement is democratic. He adds that it is the first agreement ever made by Albanian political parties without any international facilitation. “It has been the quickest agreement in the entire history of Albania, and that too without international facilitation,” said Limaj.
A group of risk analysts based in New York published a report on the involvement of foreign fighters in the Syrian war. The organization cites an OSCE report from March, which concludes that the number of Kosovars involved as jihadists in Syria is up to 120.
The claim by Democracy in Action that ballot boxes were stuffed in Skenderaj/Srbica was rejected by the State Prosecution. In a press release, the State Prosecutor says, that after interviewing 30 commissioners representing all political parties, it was found that there had been no fraud.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has reported that all election preparations have been completed. The total number of monitors in the elections is 27,733. “The ballot-printing process has been finalized, and all election materials are of high quality, as they were in the 2013 local elections”, says an announcement from the CEC.
