The Office of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton, has confirmed its stance that talks between Pristina and Belgrade should continue. The spokesperson of Baroness Ashton, Maja Kocijancic, said that whoever becomes the head of the government should continue the negotiation process with Belgrade, aimed at the normalization of relations. Kocijancic told Radio Dukagjini that the new government should also implement previously reached agreements.

Sources told the paper that the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton, had a telephone conversation yesterday with the acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, but no details as to what was discussed were provided.

European Union High Representative Catherine Ashton hailed Sunday’s elections in Kosovo and said they are a step forward towards the consolidation of democracy. Ashton thanked the EU observers for their work during the elections process and the OSCE for its support.
