Haradinaj: If Serbia denies Kosovo recognition, why sit with them at the table (B92, Klan Kosova, Kosovo online)

Outgoing Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj stated that if Serbia denies Kosovo recognition, there is no sense in discussing things with them, reports B92 portal quoting Kosovo based media.

Pristina: ''Resolution on genocide'', a photo and media (KoSSev)

The Assembly of Kosovo adopted a resolution on ''genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes of the former regime of the Serbian state committed in Kosovo,'' yesterday.

The headlines of Kosovo media, however, were marked with a photo of a scene of an alleged group rape, which Kosovo MP Flora Brovina showed to the media in the assembly, emphasizing that it shows an Albanian woman being raped by Serb forces in the presence of members of her family.

Rakic, Vulovic, Jankovic and Todic mayoral candidates again (KIM)

Srpska Lista candidates for mayors in the four northern municipalities are Zoran Todic, Srdjan Vulovic, Vucina Jankovic and Goran Rakic, Radio KIM reports referring to Pristina-based daily Zeri.

Srpska Lista submitted on Thursday its request to the Central Election Commission for the participation at the forthcoming extraordinary mayoral elections in the north. The elections are scheduled to take place on May 19.

PDK to opposition: If you truly want this government to go, take concrete actions (RTK)

Head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group, Memli Krasniqi, said the roundtable between representatives of political parties hosted by Vetevendosje today is a “farce” and such forums are not the right place to decide elections date. “It is the Assembly that decides on when to head to elections,” Krasniqi said adding that while his party objects to the idea of organising early elections. He also said that if the opposition parties truly want elections, they need to take concrete actions and not remain only on rhetoric.

Interparty disagreements delay inquiry into deportation of six Turkish nationals (RFE)

Radio Free Europe in Albanian reports that a committee for investigating the arrest and deportation of six Turkish nationals has not yet been established despite the Assembly of Kosovo’s recommendations dated 17 April. Meanwhile the opposition Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), which proposed the committee’s establishment, has blamed the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) for the delays. LDK MP, Driton Selmanaj, there is a “fear” on the part of PDK and tendency to prevent the committee’s establishment.

PDK announces party elections, confirms demarcation vote (media)

Deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Enver Hoxhaj, said in a press conference today that the party will head to internal elections this year. He said PDK elections process will begin in the coming days and weeks and will conclude late in the year. Hoxhaj said that at the end of the process, PDK will be “reconfirmed as the party of change, hope and trust." He said the party chairmanship also discussed the recent political developments, in light of yesterday's events at the Assembly regarding the border demarcation vote.

Krasniqi: PDK supports voting of demarcation agreement today (media)

Head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group, Memli Krasniqi, said at today’s Assembly session that his party supports the voting of the border demarcation agreement being voted today. He said it was regrettable that at this stage in the process there are disagreements between certain parties on terminology aspects which do not affect the substance of the agreement.

Veseli: PDK to vote in favour of border demarcation agreement (media)

Leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Kadri Veseli, said in a Facebook post that his party MPs will vote in favour of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. Hailing the decision of the government to submit the agreement to the Assembly, Veseli wrote that the PDK’s position on the issue is clear. “The agreement needs to be approved and our vote is in favour,” Veseli said adding: “Isolation of our citizens needs to end. We expect visa liberalisation from the European Union.”

Opposition Parties Make Gains in Kosovo Election Run-offs (Balkan Insight)
