Koha: "Serb mayors to win in North Kosovo, and then resign again" (Serbian media)

Pristina based daily Koha Ditore writes that Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci announced that the Serbian List planed participation in the local elections called in the four northern Kosovo municipalities, Serbian media are quoting.

The Pristina daily says that the Serbian List will participate in elections for mayors in the four Serb majority municipalities - but that mayors elected this way "will resign immediately after election (results) have been confirmed."

Albanians refuse to see St. Vitus as a holiday in Kosovo (RTS, Koha Ditore)

Albanian MPs, members of the relevant parliamentary committee that discussed the Kosovo Holidays Act, voted unanimously against the demands of the Serbian List to include the June 28th (Serbian Orthodox holiday Vidovdan (St. Vitus) in the act, reports Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).

The RTS quotes Pristina daily Koha Ditore that the Serbian List requested to include the 28th June in the Law on holidays, but the first to oppose this request was MP Milaim Zeka, considering the request as an insult to the Albanians.

UN Office supports mobile market in Gjilan/Gnjilane (Koha Ditore)

Gjilan/Gnjilane Mayor, Lutfi Haziri, met Caroline Onekalit from the UN Office in Kosovo’s community support and signed a memorandum of understanding regarding a USD 27,000 investment in public infrastructure in areas where different communities live. Haziri said there funding will be provided for the “Green Market” project near the Orthodox Church building in the city. “This investment will provide a good solution and create favourable conditions for the sale of different products, mainly agricultural,” Haziri said.

IMF: Do not increase the number of veterans (Koha)

Head of the International Monetary Fund for Kosovo, Stephanie Eble, appealed to Kosovo authorities not to increase number of pension and non-contributory schemes. During a press conference held together with the Minister of Finance Bedri Hamza, she said that Kosovo continues to mark sustainable growth due to investments and exports. “Programs for social benefits should reform ... This also means a credible reclassification of war veterans in order to remain within the budget allocations for 2018.
