Veseli: Thaci to be elected president this month (RTK)

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Deputy Leader and Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli said before party members in Prizren that the PDK leader Hashim Thaci will be elected president of Kosovo in the coming month. Veseli said there is no doubt that Thaci is the most deserving person to take on the post. Meanwhile, Enver Hoxhaj, also PDK deputy leader, said Thaci will be elected in a few weeks’ time.

Grabovci: Veseli was not nominated for PDK leader (Zeri)

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group chief, Adem Grabovci, today denied the rumors that Assembly President Kadri Veseli was nominated to be PDK’s leader after Hashim Thaci’s candidacy for Kosovo President. "We are currently analyzing the situation. It is true that we have had meetings but is absolutely not true what media reported on Veseli’s nomination,” Grabovci said.

Veseli: Punish politicians with visa regime, not citizens (RTK)

The President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Vesei, has criticized the European Union after the news that Kosovo people will not be able to travel without visas in Europe.

At the first annual Assembly-Civil Society Conference, Veseli said if there are voices on organized crime and corruption in the politics of Kosovo, then let the politicians be punished through visa regime, not the people.

Delawie and Zbogar support the continuation of work in the Assembly (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli today met with the United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie and the EU Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar. During the meeting it was discussed about the recent developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the work of the Assembly. Delawie and Zbogar expressed their support for the continuation of the work of the Assembly, in order to avoid creating delays in the promulgation of laws relevant to the processes through which Kosovo is going.

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli said after the meeting of the presidency that it is very important for the MPs to be able to vote tomorrow on the 2016 budget. “The budget includes economic perspective, infrastructure investment, improvement of the citizens’ lives and salaries of public sector servants,” said Veseli adding that there should be no negative images in the world coming from Kosovo. He also said that it would be “unjustifiable” if the opposition tried to block the work of the Assembly.

Berry, the U.S. State Department's first-ever Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex)Persons is visiting Kosovo and met today with the President of the Kosovo Assembly, Kadri Veseli. Berry and Veseli during the meeting discussed the human rights of the LGBTI in Kosovo. "Berry stressed that human rights, as universal must be respected equally for all members of society, irrespective of their differences in ethnicity and identity," read a press release issued by Veseli’s Office.

Veseli: Jahjaga is performing her constitutional duty (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli said today that  Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga is performing her constitutional duty by addressing the Constitutional Court regarding the Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities. Veseli added that he hopes that the Serbian List representatives, who expressed their concern over the delay on the implementation of this association, will be more understanding on this matter.

EU Commissioner Hahn to address Kosovo Assembly on 6 November (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli has confirmed the holding of the session on Monday for ratification of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) but did not explain why the timing was moved to 13.00 hrs. Veseli also said that they expect the EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn to address Kosovo Assembly on 6 November.
