Simić says “incident” with Đuric sends bad message to Kosovo Serbs (Koha)

The Serbian List leader, Slavko Simić, during the Kosovo Assembly session today said that the “incident” that occurred last night in Gracanica where Kosovo Police stopped the director of the Office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government, Marko Đuric, sends a bad message for Serbs in Kosovo. Simić also mentioned cases of Mushtisht and Novobërdë/Novo Brdo, saying it is a violation of human rights to prevent Serbs to return to their homes. He also called for a faster establishment of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities.

Gaxherri: No church or mosque will be allowed in University campus (Koha)

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP, Besa Gaxherri, during the Kosovo Assembly session today said no church or mosque will be allowed in the campus of the Pristina University. "We have a secular state. Serbian Church was built under Milosevic's regime, everyone knows what purpose this church had at that time. Kosovo Serbs are obliged to respect the Constitution of Kosovo," she said.

Delawie: Corruption in Kosovo, major obstacle to democracy (Koha)

The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, said that corruption in Kosovo is the most serious obstacle for development and rule of law. He said the US will remain a partner to Kosovo in fighting corruption. Delawie made the statements at a roundtable organised by the US Chamber of Commerce aimed at installing a culture that supports and encourages business ethics.

EULEX offers reward for information into the killing of its officer in 2013 (Koha)

The EU rule of law mission (EULEX) has offered a reward of €82,000 for information regarding the killing of one of its customs officers in the northern part of Kosovo in 2013. Audrius Senavicius, from Lithuania, was shot dead on 19 September 2013 when a EULEX vehicle he was travelling in came under fire near Zveçan/Zvečan. Deputy head of EULEX, Bernd Thran, said in a press conference today in Mitrovica North that a team of international investigators have worked relentlessly to find the killer but that they need the help of the local community to make progress.

Nenad Lazic deputy head of KJC (Koha)

Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) held today its regular meeting supervised by the head of this Council, Nehat Idrizi.

Based on the Constitution of Kosovo, Article 108, point 7, Law number 03/L-223, on the Judicial Council, Article 6 and Regulation on organization and activity of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Article 5, point 4, the Council nominated today Nenand Lazic, judge at the Court of Appeals in Pristina and member of the KJC since July 2006, nominated by the Assembly of Kosovo, deputy head of the Kosovo Judicial Court.

Works without permission at Orthodox Church continue, Police and KFOR observe (Koha)

Works at the Serb Orthodox Church at University Campus, called by Serbs “functionalization of the Church,” continued today. These works, led by volunteering priests of Pristina’s neighboring municipality, Gracanica, are commenced without the respective permission from the institutions of the capital. Sources of Koha.net learned that members of Pristina building inspection visited the site. Members of Kosovo Police are also present there, and no incident happened so far. Members of KFOR are also observing the situation from a distance under shadow.

Veseli: Broad consensus over demarcation – no negotiating with Serbian List (Koha)

President of the Kosovo Assembly, Kadri Veseli, said that a broad consensus is necessary to proceed with the issue of border demarcation. At the same time, he reiterated that there will be no negotiations with the Serbian List and certainly no conditions will be accepted.

Poll finds Government the most corrupt institution in Kosovo (Koha)

In a recent poll carried out by the Kosovo-based research group, Riinvest, the government of Kosovo was identified as the most corrupt institution while the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) as the least corrupt.  According to the poll, around 48 percent of the citizens in Kosovo have been involved in corruption by bribing officials in exchange for public administration services. Riinvest’s Lumir Abdixhiku said Kosovo authorities are responsible for the high level of corruption which, he warned, is posing a threat to the Kosovo society, development and integration process.

Çollaku officially leaves European Integration Ministry (Koha)

The outgoing Minister of European Integration, Bekim Çollaku today officially confirmed his departure from this post. Çollaku told a press conference on Friday that Prime Minister Isa Mustafa has approved his resignation. He said that the European agenda will be the top priority. "The road to integration is a long and challenging journey. As I announced earlier, I am leaving the post of the European Integration Minister to go to another institution that will give the largest contribution.
