An investigation reveals that a discrepancy between the Kosovo Correctional Service and the Ministry of Education is leaving teenagers who attempted to join terrorist organizations out of school.

With little money, two 16-year-old boys, one from Viti and the other from Gjilan, checked into Prishtina International Airport to board a flight to Turkey, hoping to join ISIS ranks in Syria. Fortunately, they were stopped by the border police.

Blerim Rama, from the Anti-terrorism Department at Kosovo Police, said that the number of Kosovo people who are joining the wars in Syria and Iraq, has decreased significantly during the last months. He made these comments during the presentation of a report on extremism and radicalism in Kosovo, organized by portal Fol Tash (Speak Now).

Report published by the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs criticizes media coverage of radicalization in Kosovo, claiming it both exaggerated the issue and simplified motives.

While international coverage of Kosovar foreign fighters in Syria managed to bring the issue of radicalization to international attention, quite often media reports were simplistic and lacked nuance, a new report published by the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, NUPI, claims.
