Mustafa: We will apply pressure in Brussels for the missing (Indeksonline)

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today that through dialogue in Brussels, Pristina will put pressure on Belgrade for the issue of missing persons. Nine Syrian nationals arrested in Mitrovica over illegal migration (Indeksonline)

Kosovo Police this morning detained nine Syrian nationals in the Mitrovica region. Previous reports that they were arrested in the police operation for seizing illegal weapons seem to be untrue as sources said the Syrian nationals were staying illegally and that this is why they were detained.

Serbia aims to destroy successful Kosovar companies (Indeksonline)

There are companies in Kosovo that have already consolidated the local market by providing qualitative products in line with European standards. Some of these companies are also exporting their products to countries in the region and in the European Union. Citing unnamed sources from associations that protect the interests of local companies, the news site reports that Serbia with the aid of some “supporters” in Kosovo are planning to “attack” these companies. “We have reliable information that Serbia has prepared a state strategy aimed at subduing successful companies in Kosovo.

Jahjaga: Politics must stay away from judiciary (Indeksonline)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said today in Pristina that ever since she has taken office she has restored the trust of the people in the institution of the President. “My impressions as President, based on institutional experience, as the first constitutional and non-party President, has been to depoliticize and restore the trust of the people,” Jahjaga said during a debate organized by Pristina-based FOL non-governmental organization. Jahjaga said she was not satisfied with the approach of respective institutions in the fight against corruption.

President Jahjaga meets Roma community representatives (Indeksonline)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, met today with political and civil society representatives of the Roma community in Kosovo, on the occasion of the International Roma Day. Jahjaga highlighted the values of respecting ethnic, cultural and religious diversity in Kosovo. She said it was very important to integrate all communities living in Kosovo, including the Roma community, and that this is one of the priorities of Kosovo institutions. Jahjaga called on the Roma community to be more active and express its needs through the Consultative Council for Communities led by the President.

Veseli: Many children are forced to do various jobs (Indeksonline)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, attended a conference organized by UNICEF in Kosovo, where it was discussed the state of children's rights in Kosovo. “Children are the most vulnerable category of society, therefore the real face of a society is exactly in the way it treats its children in day care, family, schools and other social facilities,” Veseli said. Veseli said that Kosovo is building a society that will guarantee more rights for children and a better future.

Jablanovic: Within two days we will decide if we will return to Kosovo institutions (Indeksonline)

The former Communities and Returns Minister, Aleksandar Jablanovic, said on Friday the Serbian List discussed with Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa in regards to their return to Kosovo institutions, and that they [Serbian List] will announce their decision within two days.  He also said that Mustafa was “too soft” with the opposition parties, which according to him, he shouldn’t have done that.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said in Tirana today that Serb political representatives will return to Kosovo institutions. “I think they will return to the institutions. We must respect the rules, Constitution and tradition … We have made maximum efforts and used dialogue to create conditions for exercising sovereignty throughout the territory of Kosovo and to integrate all communities, including Serbs. Serbs from all Kosovo municipalities are now represented in the institutions,” he said.
