Is Kosovo a safe place or not? (Koha Ditore)

The paper’s Brussels-based correspondent, Augustin Palokaj, in an opinion piece today writes that the European Union considers Kosovo as a safe place of origin in terms of access to asylum seekers from Kosovo. But, according to him, the EU and many member states consider the security situation in Kosovo still "fragile". “The EU also faces a logical question: If Kosovo is a safe place, then why it needs foreign soldiers and police officers.

EU is not aware of vehicle insurance agreement’s suspension (Kallxo.com)

Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said that the EU is not aware about the suspension of the agreement on vehicle insurance. She said the signatory parties have agreed to resolve all issues through an implementation committee and “this is the forum where issues relating to vehicle insurance should be sent to.”

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, stressed during a press conference on Monday morning that an extraordinary political progress is registered in the region, from the Berlin Conference to the Vienna one. “What is worth stressing is that we have entered a phase which serves to increase the focus on advancement of the economic and financial support for the region,” said Rama. He further informed that the parties involved in the process initiated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, agree to finance and invest on regional infrastructure.

Hahn: Decision on election in hands of Serbian politicians (Danas, Tanjug)

A decision on a snap parliamentary election does not depend on leaders of the EU, but solely on Serbian politicians, and the EU is convinced that Serbia will stay the reform course and remain committed to resolving the Kosovo issue, EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn says.

In an interview to Belgrade-based daily Danas, Hahn says that he will propose opening an initial negotiation chapter in late 2015, noting that Serbia has no yet finished work on Chapters 23 and 24.

Special meeting on Nis-Pristina-Durres highway (Tanjug)

A meeting on the construction of Nis-Pristina-Durres highway was held Thursday ahead of the Western Balkans Summit in Vienna.

The meeting was attended by Serbian and Albanian Prime Ministers, Aleksandar Vucic and Edi Rama respectively, Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti.
