Small turnout of Serbs in Kosovo elections is the result of late call which came from the official Belgrade, said French journalist Loran Rui.

Commenting the preliminary results of the early parliamentary elections in Kosovo the  French correspondent from Balkans said that elections were marred by the low turnout, which was also low and in the Serbian settlements.

Leader of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDS) Nenad Rašić said that, according to so far results, the PDS will have MPs in the Kosovo Assembly.

“Progressive Democratic Party participated in parliamentary elections for the first time and what is obvious is that we will have our representatives in the parliament. We still don’t know the number, but we’ll learn it after we get the results from the north,” said Rašić to RTV KIM.

Socialist Party of Serbia’s deputy caucus whip Đorđe Milićević stated that election results will strengthen the influence of Serbs in Kosovo and that they will now be able to fight for their interests in legitimate and democratic manner.

The issue of division of mandates to Serbian MPs in the Kosovo parliament is important and encroaches into political rights of Serbs, said head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric and added that Serbia counts on support from all who advocate the rule of law.

Djuric said to RTS that division of mandates is not over yet and that Serbia is having ongoing discussions with the most influential states in the European Union and other states over that issue.

Aleksandar Jablanovic, who heads the Srpska electoral list, believes that it will have over five percent of votes won in the Kosovo early elections once the ballots cast by voters in northern Kosovo and internally displaced persons are counted.

The votes cast in northern Kosovo in Sunday's early legislative elections are still being counted, and the votes of displaced persons for the Kosovo assembly have not been processed yet, Jablanovic told reporters in Kosovska Mitrovica on Monday.

European Union High Representative Catherine Ashton hailed Sunday’s elections in Kosovo and said they are a step forward towards the consolidation of democracy. Ashton thanked the EU observers for their work during the elections process and the OSCE for its support.

Those tired of elections, will get even more tired by calculating who could make a coalition with whom and to what price. Different from election campaign, where Kosovo politicians usually make promises that they do not intend to keep, now during the bargaining for power, is the momentum for them to prove if they have principles or not. From today, everything that was said during the campaign is not valid.

Arbana Xharra criticizes opposition parties of Kosovo for “assuring another four year mandate for Hashim Thaçi.” The final verdict of Kosovars is a clear message for the opposition: in order to be a real majority, you need to create a coalition, she says. Xharra considers that opposition party leaders  were in euphoria and illusions, each of them aiming Hashim Thaçi’s seat, “therefore they lost the momentum and allowed Thaçi to win, despite all the scandals and messages from the international community that Kosovo needs new political faces.

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) is managing to keep 5 percent lead from Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) at a time when ballots from less than 100 polling stations have yet to be counted. It seems the difference between parties will remain as it is considering that most of the uncounted votes are from the predominantly-Serb northern part of Kosovo.

PDK has received 30.97 percent while LDK has 25.87 percent.

Behgjet Pacolli’s New Kosovo Alliance is definitely not making the 5 percent election threshold as it currently stands at 4.69 percent.
