Serbs from the north have frozen all their election activities due to their dissatisfaction with some of the decisions of Central Election Commission, and it remains unknown if they will participate in Kosovo’s general elections that will be held on Sunday. Concerns of the northerners are related mainly to the symbols of the Republic of Kosovo on the ballots, number of the voters outside Kosovo, guaranteed seats and composition of the election councils in the areas with Serb majority.

PDS election rally in Kosovska Kamenica (Blic)
Progressive Democratic Party (PDS) staged election rally yesterday in Kosovska Kamenica. Rally, attended by around 400 persons, was opened with Serbian anthem “Lord Give Us Justice”. Outgoing Minister of Labor and leader of the PDS Nenad Rašić said that Serbs, despite all hardships, have sent a message that they will stay in Kosovo. “We’ll stay on our land, in our houses, we have our ancestors’ graveyards here, our churches and monasteries are here.
Janjić: Risk from low turnout in the north (RTK2)
Belgrade’s decision is expected soon on whether freezing of the campaign of Srpska Ticket will mean the boycott of elections, said political analyst Dušan Janjić to RTK2. He predicts that turnout of Serbs in Kosovo elections won’t be big, and stressed that important political question after elections will be who will get ministerial posts from Serb community, after elections.
