UN experts continue with their fact-finding mission in Kosovo (kohaonline)

The United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances continues today with its visit to Kosovo, in a fact finding mission for the missing persons.

The three members of the Working Group, Mr. Ariel Dulitzky, Ms. Jasminka Dzumhur, and Mr. Osman el-Hajjé, met yesterday with President Jahjaga, the Working Group for the Missing and Government Commission for the Missing Persons.

Allocation of funds for integration of RAE community, delayed (Koha)

The action plan for integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian (RAE) community which was endorsed by Prizren Municipal Assembly two years ago, remains unimplemented due to the non-allocation of funds from the municipal budget, foreseen in the document.
Therefore, the Municipal Office for Communities and Return (MOCR) in Prizren, addressed a request to the executive bodies of the municipality to allocate €50 thousand to implement this plan.

Children’s rights are violated in Kosovo (telegrafi)

The 1 June, International Children’s Day was celebrated in Kosovo. A range of activities, which symbolized 1 June, was organized in the capital. Pristina square was filled with children who were each playing in their own way. Ombudsman, Sami Kurteshi, was among the organizers of the activities. He stated that he is not pleased with the situation of the children in the Kosovo. “Not only me but we are all dissatisfied and we are making efforts to find a better solution. Today’s day is only a reminder of the internationally set date and we are marking it.

A parcel for a collective building for RAE community, allocated (Koha Ditore)

The Assembly of Gjakovë/Djakovica, has decided to allocate a parcel for Roma Ashkali and Egyptian returnees, who lived in Montenegro for 15 years. The paper reports that the decision was made after a hash debate, where from the 29 advisers present, 15 voted for the allocation of the parcel for RAE community, 13 were against and one abstained. Representatives of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK,) objected this decision insisting that individuals who do not possess any property is Gjakovë/Djakovica should not return there.

Kosovars, top traffickers and trafficking victims (Express)

Human trafficking in Switzerland is a business mainly run by Kosovars. In 25 percent of discovered cases of trafficking, citizens of Kosovo were involved, found the 2013 annual report of the Swiss federal police.
