Delawie: The opposition did not heed Secretary Kerry’s advice (media)

The US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delawie addressed the media at the Assembly following the interruption of the session by opposition MPs who yet again released teargas in the chamber and expressed concern with the recent developments. Delawie commended the MPs who, he said, are trying to enable the Assembly to function normally and added that on his latest visit to Kosovo, the US Secretary of State John Kerry called for dialogue between the parties. “I see that the people are not heeding it,” Delawie stressed.

Delawie and Zbogar support the continuation of work in the Assembly (Koha)

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli today met with the United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie and the EU Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar. During the meeting it was discussed about the recent developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the work of the Assembly. Delawie and Zbogar expressed their support for the continuation of the work of the Assembly, in order to avoid creating delays in the promulgation of laws relevant to the processes through which Kosovo is going.

"The opposition should understand that the representatives of the people are elected in ballot boxes and not with weapons,” Delawie said. Delawie: US will cooperate with  Kosovo government for UNESCO membership (Klan Kosova)

The United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, said today that his country supports Kosovo's membership in UNESCO. "We will work closely with the government of Kosovo for a positive result at the General Assembly of UNESCO,” Delawie said.  He also stressed that the US is interested in the protection of all religious and cultural monuments of all nationalities in Kosovo.

After the meeting, Delawie called on the opposition parties not to make problems during the Assembly session tomorrow, and said that actions of violence in the Assembly are damaging the democracy in Kosovo. The United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, today during the meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Council noted that the people of Kosovo see corruption as a major obstacle, and stressed that combating corruption requires a lot of work. According to him, the US is ready to assist Kosovo in combating corruption. Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today that one cannot combat corruption by looking for the ‘big fish’, because according to him, big fish is anyone who committed corruption acts.

New US Ambassador advises Kosovo leaders to establish special court ASAP (RTK)

The new United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Gregory Delawie, said on Wednesday that Kosovo’s leaders should establish the special court as soon as possible. “The next couple of days will be crucial for the country. I honestly hope that Kosovo will pass the legislation on the establishment of the special court, and bring justice for those who suffered at the hands of those involved in crime. The failure of local institutions to establish this court means that many things will go backwards,” Delawie said during a ceremony at the State Department in Washington.
