Power supply in north Kosovo remains in Serb hands (RTS, Tanjug)

BELGRADE- The agreement signed between Belgrade and Pristina on Tuesday keeps the power supply in northern Kosovo in the hands of the Serb community there, Serbia's liaison officer in Pristina Dejan Pavicevic said on Wednesday.

The agreement will last only if both sides implement it, and suitable guarantees have been secured to that end, Pavicevic said in awritten statement.

Vandals destroying memorial to journalists must be punished (Tanjug)

BELGRADE - The Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) has said that it is unpleasantly surprised by the fact that the memorial plaque to Serbian journalists Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenic, who disappeared in the province 16 years ago, has been removed for the third time.

“We again urge the international community and competent institutions in the province to find and justly punish those who committed this atrocity, and above all, to reveal the truth about the kidnapping of Radio Pristina journalists Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenic,” the Office for KiM said.

A Salafist originating from Kosovo arrested in Germany (Tanjug/Akter)

In a routine control at the border with Austria a couple days ago, German police has caught and arrested to persons  under suspicion of being Salafists. One of them originates from Kosovo, carried German media. A spokesperson of the state Prosecutors’ Office in Munich said that there was an ongoing case against the 24-year-old man from Kosovo in Germany due to agitation for jihad-fighters.

Vachter, Zbogar discuss security with Serb officials (Tanjug)

MITROVICA - EULEX Acting Head of Mission Joelle Vachter and Head of the EU Office in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar talked in northern Mitrovica on Tuesday with political representatives of north Kosovo Serbs about the security of citizens and the rule of law.

During the meeting, the officials discussed “issues of mutual concern regarding security of citizens and the rule of law in northern Kosovo”, EULEX has stated in a release.

"EULEX is part of the larger EU family in Kosovo and represents a key plank of the EU's overall comprehensive policy here,” Vachter said.

Belgrade-Pristina discussions resume in Brussels (Tanjug)

BRUSSELS - Discussions on the normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina ties - which ended on Thursday with the initialling of plans to build improved integrated crossings at the administrative line with Kosovo - resumed in Brussels early Friday under the auspices of the European Union.

As opposed to Thursday, when the two delegations were in direct discussions in the European External Action Service building in Brussels, Friday's discussions are being held in bilateral format, which means that the teams will hold separate meetings with European Commission (EC) experts.

Prosecutors in contact over Sonmez (Tanjug)

PRISTINA - The Serbian Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes is in contact with Kosovo's Special Prosecution Office over Yusuf Sonmez, a Turkish doctor suspected of having conducted illegal human organ transplantations, Eulex has confirmed.

Eulex can confirm that the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes is in contact with the Special Prosecution Office in connection with a Kosovo fugitive from justice who has been allegedly located in a European metropolis, Miguel Carvalho de Faria, the head of the Eulex Press and Public Information Office, told Tanjug late Wednesday.

Jennifer Brush appointed to UNMIK (Tanjug, Blic)

PRISTINA - Jennifer Brush, former Director of the Office of South Central European Affairs at the US Department of State, has been appointed as Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Kosovo.

The decision to appoint Brush was announced by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday, UNMIK said in a statement.

Brush succeeded Robert Sorenson of the United States on September 1, the statement said. The UN Secretary-General said that he is grateful to Sorenson for his contribution to UNMIK.

Technical talks on integrated management set for Thursday (Tanjug, Politika, KiM radio)

BELGRADE - Belgrade and Pristina will discuss integrated border management on Thursday, and head of the Serbian government office for Kosovo Marko Djuric will hold on Friday informal consultations with EU officials about the future of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, that is about the issues that are not significant to Chapter 35 of Serbia's accession talks with the EU.

The talks on Thursday will focus on things from the Brussels agreement that have not been implemented, but can be addressed before Kosovo forms a new government, Djuric told Tanjug.
