Government "will not allow Trepca to be taken" (Dailies)

The government "will not accept" a unilateral decision of Pristina to take over the ownership of the Mining, Metallurgical and Chemical Combine Trepca. Mustafa and Brussels remove "Peace Park" (Vecernje Novosti)

In the coming weeks, Pristina with the support of Brussels will boost pressure on Belgrade, and Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, to remove the “Peace Park” from the bridge over the Ibar River in Kosovska Mitrovica. The new Prime Minister in Pristina, Isa Mustafa, will try to impose it as one of the main topics in the political dialogue with Belgrade. As announced, he will meet with Serbian PM, Aleksandar Vucic on 8 and 9 February at the EU headquarters.

EU grants 8.5 million euro for north municipalities (Zeri)

The European Union (EU) Office in Kosovo allocated 8.5 million euros for the four northern municipalities, North Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok, writes Zeri. This grant is dedicated to municipalities with Serb majority and it is expected to serve for economic development and infrastructure construction. Acting Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Thomas Gnocchi said that the EU has allocated a total of 38.5 million euros for northern Kosovo, and announced similar donations in the future. Representatives of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) yesterday donated one vehicle and medical equipment to the Health Centre in Mitrovica. Kosovo Police from the station in MItrovica North, arrested today Nazmi Ismajli, representative of Albanian population from “Kroi i Vitakut” neighborhood in Mitrovica North,  at around 11:00 hours, while he was working on the foundation of his house. Albanians want to remove the Peace Park in Mitrovica, Serbs oposed (IRS)

Kosovo Albanian representatives insist that the Peace Park, situated on the main bridge on the river Ibar in Kosovska Mitrovica is removed as soon as possible, while Serbs say that removal of the Park without any previous agreement could destabilize the situation.

The head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District, Vasa Jelić, said that Serbs from northern Kosovo and the Serbian Government believe that the Peace Park should stay until an agreement on that issue is reached and the situation in northern Kosovo is stabilized.
