Bahtiri: We insisted on barricades removal (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo delegation was unified and insisted on the removal of all barricades in Mitrovica as soon as possible as they are placed in violation to the Kosovo laws and agreements reached in Brussels, reads a press release issued by Mitrovica municipality upon return of its mayor, Agim Bahtiri, from Brussels as part of the Kosovo delegation.

Bahtiri is reported to have spoken in Brussels about the great work done since he came to the mayor’s post on stabilizing the situation, return of all displaced persons to their property and on relaxing relations between Albanians and Serbs which provided concrete results.

“Barricades bring nothing good for the citizens, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds. They only contribute to worsening of interethnic relations, prevent cooperation between citizens and businesses which knows no boundaries, prevent economic cooperation, incite hatred, increase tensions and further destabilize the already fragile situation. These stances, as well as those of the chief negotiator, Edita Tahiri, encountered support from the EU representatives”, the press release reads.
