“EULEX to initiate internal investigations on corruption affairs” (kosovapress)

The civil society organizations have expressed concern with regards to the recent developments at the European Mission for the Rule of Law – EULEX, after the accusations and counter-accusations for involvement of the officials of this mission in corruption affairs.

These organizations claim that in the beginning of the work of this mission in 2008, they expected for this mission to be an important contributor to the functional justice and in service of the citizens. Being aware of this potential, the civil society supported this mission in different manners, requesting at the same time results of its work.

Therefore, these organizations have requested from EULEX to initiate internal investigations on the corruption affairs and pressure on the journalists as soon as possible. EULEX should also undertake all the necessary steps for independent investigations, and undertake respective measures, depending on the outcomes of the investigation. Furthermore, the European Parliament should hold the EULEX authorities in Pristina and Brussels responsible and discuss the best way of fulfillment of the EULEX’s goal in the future period.

The joint statement is issued by The Kosovo Civil Society Foundation (KCSF). Movement FOL, The Group for Political and Judicial Studies (GLPS), Syri i Vizzionit (SiV), Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS), Ec Ma Ndryshe, KIPRED Institute, Pristina Political School (PIPS), Center for contemporary art Stacioni, Balkans Policy Research Group (BPRG), Kosovo Initiative for Stability (IKS), Kosovo Center for Security Studies (QKSS), Riinvest Institute, Community Building Mitrovica (CBM), Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI).
