Thaci: Kosovo, a factor of stability and unity in the Balkans (Lajmi)
The Principal Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, who is hosting today’s Western Balkans Ministerial Conference in Pristina, said in his opening remarks that Kosovo is proving to be a constructive country with a very important role in the region, Europe and beyond. Thaci said: “good relations and dialogue with neighbors is one of the key requirements for moving toward membership in the European Union and NATO. This is why regional cooperation is one of the top priorities of Kosovo’s foreign policy agenda. Kosovo has built very good diplomatic relations with countries in the region that have recognized its independence. Kosovo has also started dialogue with Serbia which is aimed at normalizing relations between the two countries. In all forums, our key message is that Kosovo is a factor of stability and unity in the Balkans”. Thaci said the conference is a continuation of a process initiated by Germany, with direct involvement and support from the European Union, which is now being called the Berlin Process. “Within this process, the countries of the Western Balkans have pledged to cooperate with the aim of increasing regional investments in the infrastructure, energy, agriculture and other important areas,” Thaci added.
