Meucci agrees with expert’s criticism towards EULEX (RTKLive)
The head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Gabriele Meucci, commenting the report prepared by the independent investigator, Jean Paul Jacquet, who investigated allegations of corruption in EULEX, has stated that he agrees that the mission has not yet achieved its objectives in the fight against corruption. Meucci, in a clarification letter send to media wrote that the mission cannot sit blindfolded towards the criticism that Jacquet wrote in his report. “Jacque notes in his report that “progress has certainly been made thanks to EULEX”, but I also agree with Jacque's assessment that there is no point in EULEX staying just to keep doing the same thing. Jacque has made his recommendations; we must change, and so must Kosovo – everyone has work to do. So, instead of working individually, looking for evidence to reinforce our own points of view, I hope that Kosovo’s government and citizens will join me in moving forward and focusing our efforts on addressing, together, the tasks at hand,” Meucci said.
