The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn said during the debate at the European Parliament that the Stabilization Association Agreement (SAA) for Kosovo should strengthen regional cooperation. He stressed that based on this Agreement, Kosovo had committed to significant and sustainable improvements of the relations with Serbia.

He added that pursuing dialogue with Serbia is one of the basic principles, therefore it is a legal obligation. He stressed that Kosovo is required to implement the reached agreements and to work on the future ones “which as we saw during the last months, sometimes involve difficult decisions and need for compromise.”

 The European Parliament will vote today for the endorsement of the Stabilization Association Agreement for Kosovo.
