Havolli: Demarcation withdrawn because MPs were blackmailed (Top Channel)
Sokol Havolli, advisor to Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, told Tirana-based Top Channel that the reasons for withdrawing the border demarcation deal from the Assembly were not related to number of votes. “The government withdrew the agreement after considerable pressure and threats made towards the MPs,” Havolli said. He stressed that the ratification of demarcation deal is a prerequisite for visa liberalization and that must happen quickly, while accusing the opposition of using this deal for political purposes. “All parties are convinced that demarcation deal is right, but one party and a certain group within the coalition may use this for political reasons. We do not have an exact date, but as soon as conditions are right, we will resend the agreement to the Assembly. This will happen in the near future, given the criteria for visa liberalization,” he said. Havolli also added that the agreement has the support of the international partners, while adding that its rejection might spoil the good relations between Pristina and Podgorica.
