Çollaku officially leaves European Integration Ministry (Koha)

The outgoing Minister of European Integration, Bekim Çollaku today officially confirmed his departure from this post. Çollaku told a press conference on Friday that Prime Minister Isa Mustafa has approved his resignation. He said that the European agenda will be the top priority. "The road to integration is a long and challenging journey. As I announced earlier, I am leaving the post of the European Integration Minister to go to another institution that will give the largest contribution. Although the position will be different as I will be advisor to the President of Kosovo, the contribution will be even greater,” he said.  In regards to visa liberalisation process, Çollaku said if the Assembly approves the demarcation deal with Montenegro, Kosovars would be able to move freely in the Schengen area by year’s end. “I've always said that I would not leave without fulfilling all criteria for visa liberalisation. I am convinced that if the Assembly ratifies the demarcation deal, the citizens of Kosovo will move freely by year’s end. I'm leaving because I was overwhelmed by a dose of disappointment. I could not sit and do nothing until the European Union is satisfied  or the Kosovo Assembly moves forward on demarcation,” he said.
