Hoxhaj: Demarcation with Montenegro expected to ratify by March (dialogplus)
Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, told Wiener Zeitung that demarcation of the border with Montenegro is not a transnational matter but an internal political matter of Kosovo. He added that Kosovo has excellent relations with Montenegro.
He said that Kosovo Assembly will discuss demarcation of the border with Montenegro in January or February. “We have nominated a committee, which will be dealing with this matter. The committee will draft a report and offer a precise assessment of the situation. Then we should come up with a decision,” Hoxhaj said.
Hoxhaj hopes that the new committee will offer accurate data that could be discussed at the Assembly. He hopes that the ratification of the agreement for demarcation of the border would create conditions for removal of Schengen visas for Kosovo people. “We were not happy when we saw that when visa liberalization is concerned, Kosovo has to fulfill double number of standards compare to Serbia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia or Albania. These countries had to fulfill 45 or 50 criteria, while we have to fulfill 96,” Hoxhaj said.
He also complained that the “European Union is not doing anything to convince its member states to recognize independence of Kosovo.”
