EU: Arbitrage is not a solution for visas (Koha Ditore)
The announcement of the government that demarcation of the border with Montenegro might end up at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, has not shaken the position of the European Commission. Officials of the EU institutions who assesses fulfillment of the criteria for visa liberalization, mentioned the two remaining criteria as inseparable. The Commission expects fulfillment of the delayed criteria for visa liberalization, related to the register of data with sentences for corruption cases and organised crime of high level as well as ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro. “This should be a continuous process,” the official for information at the European Commission, Kasia Kolanko, told to Koha Ditore when asked if ratification of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro would remain a criteria even after an eventual agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro to send the matter for arbitration.
