EULEX to try the accused for murder of UNMIK police officers in 2004 (Kallxo)

Four persons accused for the murder of two UNMIK police officers in 2004 will be tried by EULEX, Kosovo Judicial Council has decided. In its decision, KJC stated that the case will be tried by a body majority of which will consist and be chaired by officials from the EU rule of law mission. The KJC also said the decision to have EULEX try the case is not because Kosovo judiciary is not capable or ready to deal with similar cases but because the case at hand is “very sensitive”.  Furthermore, “one of the killed officers war part of UNMIK international contingent, the case is complex involving four persons accused of criminal acts relating to EU member states,” KJC said.
