People with disabilities need equal access in Kosovo institutions (Koha)
The association of paraplegics and paralyzed children of Kosovo, HandiKos, organized a press conference to mark the International Day of People with Disabilities [3 December]. During the conference, it was discussed about the challenges and difficulties that people with disabilities go through on their everyday life in Kosovo. Afrim Maliqi, director of Handikos, said the people with disabilities are not receiving the support that they need from Kosovo institutions, such as employment, health care and transportation. Kosovo Ombudsman, Sami Kurteshi said that people with disabilities should receive help and support from the whole society, not only from the institutions. Kurteshi also visited the school 'Model' in Pristina, where eight children with disabilities attend classes.
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.
