Why should we be more and more persistent (Gazeta Blic)
Albert Mustafa writes in his opinion peace today that Albanians are often exhorted if emotionally moved, as it was the case with the insult of the former Serb minister Jablanovic, or the Trepca case. Even though this is a good sign, he writes, “we should also prove that we are also a visionary population and that we do not stand the evil which continues to build around us.”
He considers that there is more reason to protest on the 18 April, because this time it is not a matter of a single individual, but with a mentality similar to that of Jablanovic’s, which aims establishment of the association of Serb municipalities. He also stresses that the Trepca issue, for which the protests took place in January, is not resolved and adds that if this enterprise does not become public, there is still danger that it will remain under the management of the Serb municipalities. So, he writes, there are still two almost identical issues that induced massive protests two months ago and adds that this should be a sufficient motive for the protests to be more massive this time.
There is a range of other equally important reasons to protest, notes Mustafa, mentioning increase of the power price, failure of the justice system, government’s control over the public broadcaster RTK, dissatisfaction with the decisions of the Constitutional Court President.
According to Mustafa, Kosovo people should have had more self-initiative and raise against these evils on their own, not waiting for the initiatives of the opposition. “Nevertheless, it is good that we finally have an opposition which is on the side of the population (despite the fact that there are some among them that were part of this bad governance) because we as citizens gain the most from the uprooting of these evils,” writes Mustafa.
