Respect the Court! (Kosova Sot)

The front page editorial of this paper suggests that despite different claims on biasness and political affiliation, the decision of the Constitutional Court should be respected. Fortunately, in the new democracy, Kosovo has become an example in the region for respecting the decisions of the “guardian” of the Constitution.

The Constitutional Court is proving to be an important mechanism in clarifying the procedures of constitution of the Assembly and creation of the government. Parties’ restraint until further clarification is determinant for stability of Kosovo. The dilemmas might remain in case the Court does not point out which party is considered to have the majority, with the justification that it does not interpret political agreements. The ball might return in the hands of politicians, who have to agree on establishment of the new bodies, and avoid unnecessary crisis. This is a maturity test for Kosovo’s politicians, who have the chance to demonstrate that they respect institutions, decisions of the Court and are willing to unblock the situation.
