The missing should be priority of the new government (Tribuna)
Head of the Association of the Missing Persons in Podujevë, Latif Mehmeti, writes that while everyone is waiting for the creation of the new government, families of the missing persons have been waiting in anxiety for 15 years now. He adds that promise of the Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri, that the issue of the missing would be discussed with Serbian representatives in Brussels, was just another deception of Kosovo institutions to the families of the missing.
“Those who think that this is how the past would be forgotten are wrong, because families of the missing, killed, injured, raped and other victims, will never forget the past, just as Kosovo citizens will not forget the suffering and horror of the past,” he writes. “The future government should not be negotiating with Serbia the issue of the missing persons. No one has the right to negotiate whether the bodies should be returned to their families. It would have been inhuman and immoral to negotiate with the bodies of the missing for political benefits,” writes Mehmeti.
