Nicic: Kosovo prosecution violated Law on Official Languages (RTV KIM, Radio kontakt plus)

Chairperson of Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo, Budimir Nicic requested Kosovo prosecution “to initiate in line with official duty, a lawsuit against the Kosovo Special Prosecution,” since the latter violated the Law on Official Languages in Kosovo during the press conference held on Monday, Serbian media reported. Chief of the Special Prosecution, Reshat Milaku held a press conference, where he tried to explain to the journalists all the issues related to the indictment for fake KLA veterans and the resignation of prosecutor Elez Blakaj. Journalists from Serbian media outlets remained short of details of the conference, since there was no translation provided from Albanian into Serbian language. “I persistently tried to get a floor and ask a question. In fact, I wanted to ask representatives of the prosecution will they initiate a lawsuit against themselves because of violation of the Law on Official Languages and breaching of the Constitution of Kosovo which says official languages in Kosovo are Albanian and Serbian. However, I failed. I publicly demand from the Kosovo Prosecution Office to initiate a lawsuit in line with the official duty against the organizers of the conference, respectively Kosovo Special Prosecution because of violation of the laws and the Constitution,” Budimir Nicic said. Press statements sent to the media by the Kosovo Prosecution are written in Albanian language only, Serbian media reported.
