Kandic to Thaci: Allow the Serbs from Gjakovica to visit the church (NMagazin, Danas, N1, Press, B92, Blic)
The founder of the Humanitarian Law Center, Natasa Kandic, called on Kosovo President Hashim Thaci to allow Serbs from Djakovica to visit the church this year.
"On this occasion, please personally engage so that the Serbs from Djakovica on August 28, 2018, visit the church and their homes and them not to be exposed to humiliation as the previous year," said Kandic in an open letter published in the Belgrade based daily Danas.
She wrote in a letter that Thaci's advocacy for the reconciliation of Serbs and Albanians and for the "multi-ethnic state of Kosovo" has the support of the international community and civil society, but it encounters Kosovo Serbs' unbelief that live in Serbia.
Kandic also briefly mentioned that she was in Djakovica on June 13, 1999, and that she watched frightened Albanians of the Serbian police, and doctors who had collected money to pay the police and paramilitaries for their lives, and she helped as much as she could and that she never received a "greater thank you".
