Commissioner Hahn visited Belgrade, met President Vucic (FoNet, TV N1, B92)

The European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn paid a short visit to Belgrade and meet with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. The meeting took place prior to Hahn’s trip to Pristina where he is set to discuss recent Pristina’s decision to increase taxes on goods from central Serbia and Bosnia by 100 percent, FoNet news agency reported.

Statement from the President Vucic's office quoted Hahn as saying that long-lasting stability demands reconciliation and good neighborly relations. He expressed his full support to the efforts to resolve the crisis in a peaceful manner, by respecting the norms of the international law, and reached regional agreements.

According to the statement, President Vucic told Commissioner Hahn that Pristina's decision to increase import taxes violated CEFTA agreement and led toward the regional destabilization which could further lead to "a deeper escalation."

He reiterated Belgrade would not introduce any retaliatory measures against Pristina and that Serbia was ready to continue the dialogue as soon as Kosovo lifts the taxes, Serbian media reported.
