Vulin and Schieb on cooperation and security situation in Kosovo (RTS)

Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin met in Belgrade with German Ambassador Thomas Schieb and discussed about political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the cooperation of Serbia and Germany in the defense area, RTS reports. During the meeting, Vulin stressed that for Serbia formation of Kosovo army is absolutely unacceptable, and it would represent a danger to the entire region, adding KFOR is the only one to guarantee security in Kosovo and Metohija, as per UN SC Resolution 1244. Vulin also criticized introduction of 100 percent taxes on goods from central Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, since it constitutes violation of regional agreements on free trade. Ambassador Schieb expressed Germany concerns over current tensions between Belgrade and Pristina. He expressed hope tensions would be overcome soon and dialogue on normalization of relations would continue. The Ambassador pointed out Germany shares the stance of the European Union that taxes should be lifted as fast as possible. He commended the attitude of Belgrade officials so far and appealed to the Serbian side to preserve calmness and prudence.
