Thaci: Gazivode, Mitrovica and Trepca will remain within Kosovo (RTK 2)

“I am convinced that with the final agreement Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja will belong to Kosovo, and I guarantee that Gazivode, Mitrovica North and Trepca will remain within Kosovo,” President Hashim Thaci said after the meeting with Pristina negotiating team, to which he delivered a report on the dialogue with Belgrade, RTK reported. As Thaci explained to the reporters after the meeting with co-chairmen of the team, the document contains topics, agreements, as well as Pristina’s views on the dialogue. “This information will certainly help the negotiating team; whose aspiration is to achieve in the next few months a Comprehensive Agreement with Belgrade,” Thaci said, adding that he believes in the EU’s leadership and strong US support. “I still believe, even stronger than before, that the final agreement will include Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja within Kosovo and I guarantee, in order to avoid all speculations, Gazivode and Mitrovica North and Trepca will be within Kosovo,” Thaci said. Thaci also urged everyone to be united, because in his view, only this would ensure success. According to RTK2, President of Kosovo said that he would respond to the summons of the Specialist Chamber in case the summon was delivered to him and urged others to do so. Commenting on tariffs on Serbian goods, Thaci said that Kosovo should not create barriers to the continuation of the dialogue and should not strengthen the negative image before its friends. The co-chairs of the negotiation team, Shpend Ahmeti and Fatmir Limaj also addressed the journalists. “It’s not a transcript of the meeting that Mr. Thaci had there, but a report on the various topics that have been opened in the final phase. Within these, the topics of missing and displaced persons, cultural heritage, assets of both states and minority rights are dominant,” Ahemeti said. “We have president’s report, we have one draft proposal of the prime minister, we have all of the documents that are a product of the technical dialogue, and so we slowly preparing a file in order to progress. And now the delegation will send the platform as soon as possible to the Assembly, which will be the framework for the dialogue with Serbia,” Limaj added. RTK2 also reports that there is no draft agreement between Kosovo and Serbia-it was stressed during the meeting and it was concluded that Pristina should start from scratch and include the issues of war crimes, succession and missing persons in the agenda of the Brussels negotiations.
