Decision of the Kosovo Government to introduce 100 percent taxes on the goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina influenced a rapid decline in the distribution of these products to the market in Kosovo, while there was an increase in distribution of goods from Macedonia and Albania, RTS reports today.

According to Kosovo Statistics Office data, the total import of goods in Kosovo for the month of December in 2018 was approximately 303 million euro, while the import from CEFTA states was 42,3 million euro, which is a decline by 46.8 percent compared to the same month in 2017.

The biggest share in this import goes to Macedonia (5.8 percent), Albania (5.7 percent) and central Serbia (1.8 percent).

In October 2018, before taxes were introduced the total import was 270 million euro, while the import from CEFTA states was 86.2 million euro. During this month, 12.3 percent of goods were from Serbia, 7.4 percent from Albania, 5.1 percent from Macedonia and 2.6 percent from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During October 2018, Serbian companies distributed goods to Kosovo in total amount of 33 million euro.

Import from EU member states in December 2018 by Kosovo companies was approximately 155.1 million euro, or 51.2 percent of the total import. The biggest share goes to Germany (13.1 percent), Italy (6.3 percent), Greece (5.9 percent), Slovenia (5.3 percent) and Poland (2.9 percent), RTS reported.
