KFOR Commander: Albanian soldiers won’t be deployed in north Kosovo (FoNet, N1)
The Commander of the US Bondsteel base in Kosovo Colonel Roy Macaraeg denied on Wednesday rumors that 500 Albanian soldiers would be positioned in the KFOR Nothing Hill camp in the north and said that 70-strong international force would remain there, the FoNet news agency reported.
The Colonel said that some 800 US, Polish, Turkish and Albanian soldiers were stationed in Bondsteel.
Macaraeg also said that troops which were sent to the north of Kosovo with Serb majority were usually composed of the US soldiers, but of those from Poland, Austria and Slovenia as well.
He added that the US troops excellently cooperated with the armed forces of Serbia describing them “as very professional.”
The majority of Macaraeg’s soldiers come from Hawaii, and he says they all enjoy being in Kosovo and in the Balkans, adding that the traditional Hawaiian greeting “aloha” used as welcome and goodbye, also means peace and friendship.
