Vucic: I am shocked by Pristina’s insolence (Tanjug, B92)
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today he is very concerned because Srpska Lista has been prevented to take part in the elections in Kosovo and Metohija. Vucic added he would discuss about it with Russian and Chinese presidents in Beijing, as well as with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, Tanjug news agency reported.
Noting that Kosovo would be one of the crucial topics in his meetings with the Russian and Chinese presidents, Vucic said he is shocked by Pristina’s insolence, following the decision of the Central Election Commission that failed to certify candidates of Srpska Lista for the forthcoming mayoral elections in the northern municipalities.
“These are unbelievable things, I am shocked that someone’s insolence and impertinence may go that far. These are things one should not do,” Vucic told Serbian journalists in Beijing. He also said no one from the world has reacted to such cancellation of democracy.
“I am not going to say what this reminds me of, when you ban somebody to put candidacy forward just because you do not like their policy, although there is nothing illegal there nor it jeopardizes someone’s human rights. Think how this is being called,” Vucic said.
He stressed he would ask the German Chancellor Merkel and other leaders present in Berlin the same question.
He recalled one of the points of the Brussels agreement was that the Serbs have the obligation to take part in elections in line with Kosovo law, however they are bothered now because Srpska Lista is winning elections.
Vucic said Albanians believed Serbs will not take part in the elections, and now when Serbs said they would participate and win again, they want to ban their participation just because Hashim Thaci, Ramush Haradinaj or Veseli do not like Srpska Lista policy.
