Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic met in New York with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, reports Serbian state broadcaster RTS.

Dacic met with Guterres after the UN Security Council session on Kosovo.

Dacic told state news agency Tanjug that that the UN Secretary General was fully informed about the situation in Kosovo.

As quoted in the statement by the Serbian MFA, SG Guterres said he was worried about the situation in Kosovo after the recent action of Kosovo police forces in the north and the incident in which UNMIK members were arrested.

"Guterres is very aware of the situation and he himself says that the presence of the UN mission in Kosovo and Metohija is proof that things have not been resolved and that, for that reason, Kosovo would like that there is no UN mission there and their goal is to expel them," Dacic said.

Dacic stressed that Serbia remains committed to negotiating and reaching a solution peacefully.

He pointed out that the Kosovo Serb population was constantly exposed to provocations and intimidation, and that in that sense, in his statement, he warned of the possibility of new incidents in the north of the province, and has called on the Security Council to seriously take the warning, and take preventive measures in order that further escalations do not happen on the ground.

Dacic added that Guterres strongly condemned the violation of the immunity of members of the UN peace mission during the action of special units of the Kosovo police in the north of Kosovo.

As he said, harassment and beatings of UN officials and non-compliance with the immunity came across the fierce condemnation of the Secretary-General.

"This is something that the UN absolutely does not accept," Dacic said.
