Shops in northern Kosovo to remain closed until further notice (RTS)
All shops, restaurants and business premises in the north of Kosovo and Metohija remain closed since yesterday RTS reports. The Association of Businessmen would decide how long it would last. As said earlier they were not able to run their businesses for more than seven months due to the tariffs Pristina imposed on the goods from central Serbia.
Residents of Mitrovica North prepared some reserves, however the question is how long the reserves would last. Rados Petrovic, Chair of the Businessmen Association in northern Kosovo said the closure of shops would remain in force as long as Pristina does not lift the tariffs. People are now looking at Belgrade and the international community to resolve the problem. Meanwhile, Belgrade said it would not abandon its people in Kosovo.
RTS also reported that Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj sent two trucks with water, oil, wheat and hygienic items to the north. Sellers on the trucks told RTS Serbs showed no interest to purchase the goods from them. Police presence was visible nearby the trucks that stayed in Mitrovica North couple of hours yesterday.
