Supreme Allied Forces Command in Europe gave a statement to the Voice of America regarding not quite precise allegations of some media on the content of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and NATO General Tod Wolters talks held earlier in Belgrade, B92 reports.

The Voice of America said, referring to the sources in the Supreme Allied Forces Command in Europe, that during the meeting between General Tod Wolters and President Aleksandar Vucic there were talks on the need to preserve and improve existing channels of communications with KFOR.

“Current KFOR Commander Major General Lorenzo D'Addario communicates with the Army of Serbia, and perhaps it was wrongly translated. General Wolters thanked all the leaders for the support they offer to this channel of communication and emphasized how important it is that the KFOR Commander has possibility of direct communication with all in the region in order to maintain the peace. To be in position to swiftly calm tensions or violent incidents,” Voice of America was told.

Several media interpretations of a statement following the meeting between General Wolters and President Vucic in Belgrade said that “General Wolters accepted that at any moment, without delay, there is a possibility of mutual communications with KFOR Commander in Kosovo,” Voice of America added.

The purpose of General Wolters visit to the area of Western Balkans was the promotion of the peace, meeting with the leaders there in order to be informed about the situation on the ground, explore possibilities to improve cooperation with NATO military forces in the region, as well as to promote peace and stability in this area, Voice of America was told.
